The Republicans had a package to resolve the issue on the table since April 2023...
The Democrats refused to even consider it.
And thus... the can gets kicked down the road a little further.
Personally, I feel that current government needs to be shut down. At least they cannot do any further damage.
As for the damage that will occur during the shutdown, well, it will be less than what the Democrats will do so we have to go for the lesser evil this time and shut the government down!

The Rs got some good concessions. It’s discouraging that so many of them couldn’t get on board to support McCarthy. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best deal we’ve had in years.
